The Bloc Québécois’s Denis Trudel was elected in the Longueuil—Saint-Hubert in the 2019 election, beating incumbent candidate Pierre Nantel.

Nantel was seeking re-election but in a different colour. Nantel started as an MP for the NDP in 2011, but he was dropped from the caucus following revelations that he had been having private discussions about crossing the floor. He ran as the candidate under the Green Party banner in 2019.
