Edmonton police lay murder charge in death of 18-year-old man in north end

Homicide investigators have charged a 19-year-old man in connection with Edmonton’s latest homicide.

Police said officers responded to a weapons complaint at around 12:30 a.m. May 1 in the area of 90 Street and 134 Avenue.

When officers arrived, they found a man with life-threatening injuries, according to police.

He was treated at the scene and taken to hospital by paramedics, where he died a short while later, police said.

On Monday, police identified the victim as 18-year-old Paul Onalik.

Matthew Weston, 19, is charged with first-degree murder, police said.

The victim and accused knew each other, EPS said.

An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday morning.
