Toronto police say they are investigating after a woman’s body was found in an apartment building Thursday night.
Police said officers responded to a medical call at 9:41 p.m. in the area of Murray Ross Parkway and Sentinel Road.
“Honestly, at first, I thought that it was due to the lack of face mask wearers in my building,” Jonathan Olenroot, a neighbour, told Global News on Friday.
But when officers arrived at the scene, they found a woman in a ninth-floor unit suffering from injuries. The woman, who was a tenant in the building, died at the scene.
Sources told Global News it appeared the victim, who was identified by family members as Leah St. Jean, was shot.
Police said the homicide squad was called in and took over the investigation.
