It was expected to return to normal service on Wednesday morning, according to the city.

At around 3 p.m, it tweeted that Guelph police were on scene and the building on Carden Street was on lockdown.

In another tweet about 45 minutes later, the city said the situation had been resolved, but city hall would remain closed for the day.

A city spokesperson did not provide details about the suspicious package.

City hall has been closed for the most part due to the COVID-19 pandemic, except for the ServiceGuelph which is scheduled to reopen at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
