Ottawa added 21 new cases of the novel coronavirus on Monday according to Ottawa Public Health (OPH), the most new cases of any other region across the province.
The latest spike follows increases in the local case count of 13 on Saturday and six on Sunday.
Ottawa now stands at 2,650 cases of the novel coronavirus since the pandemic began.
The number of deaths related to COVID-19 in the city remained unchanged at 264.
Ontario’s COVID-19 dashboard had reported earlier in the day that Ottawa added 20 new cases, but OPH’s more fulsome daily report showed 21 new cases later that afternoon.
There are currently 146 active cases of COVID-19 in Ottawa, up from 139 the day previous.
OPH’s dashboard also shows 11 people are currently hospitalized with COVID-19, one of whom is in the intensive care unit.
OPH reported no new coronavirus outbreaks on Monday, and declared a recent outbreak at the Children’s Village daycare to be resolved.
Ottawa had gone more than a week with daily cases under 20 before Monday’s report.
Elsewhere in the province on Monday, Toronto reported 16 new cases, Peel added 19 and Windsor-Essex recorded 12.
No other public health units in Eastern Ontario reported any new cases on Monday.
