Flooding shuts down Highway 1 near Revelstoke, B.C.

A section of the Trans-Canada Highway in B.C.’s Southern Interior is closed in both directions because of flooding.

Four kilometres of Highway 1 has been flooded between Woods OH Bridge and Summit Lake OH Bridge, which is approximately 10 to 15 kms west of Revelstoke.

Global News has reached out to area road contractor Emcon Services in Revelstoke for more information about the closure.

No estimated time of reopening has been released. The next DriveBC update is now scheduled for noon on Friday.

In related news, DriveBC says because of heavy traffic volune, motorists can expect lengthy delays for the Needles ferry on Highway 6 and the Upper Arrow Lake ferry on Highway 23.

For the Needles ferry, DriveBC says there is heavy traffic in both directions, and that there was a four-sailing wait as of 3:15 p.m.

For the Upper Arrow Lake ferry, DriveBC says to expect delays of two to three hours due to heavy traffic.
