Two people have died following a Friday night collision between a motorcycle and vehicle northeast of Edmonton.
Edmonton police said the deadly crash happened around 10:30 p.m. on 17 Street Northeast, which is also known as Highway 28A where the collision occurred, and 246 Avenue near Manning Drive.
A 39-year-old man was riding the motorcycle north on 17 Street with a 37-year-old woman as his passenger when they collided head-on with a southbound Ford Focus.
Both of them died following the crash, police said.
The driver of the Ford Focus, a 39-year-old woman, was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Speed is considered a factor in the crash, according to police.
Highway 28A was closed for a period Friday evening between Manning Drive and Hwy 37.
The Edmonton Police Service’s major collisions unit is investigating.
