Const. Sarah Patten told reporters officers were called to a residence near Winston Churchill Boulevard and The Collegeway just before 1 a.m. for reports of a disturbance.

Patten said it’s believed there was an altercation between two men before both were located outside the residence with stab wounds.

“We could hear all of the noise. It sounded like it was a holiday party going on in the house and then we heard the sirens,” said Derry Sayers, who lives in the area.

It is unclear if the altercation occurred inside the residence or near where the victims were located.

One of the men was pronounced dead on scene, while the other was transported to hospital, where he later died.

Patten said it is believed to have been an “isolated” incident and added investigators were not looking for any suspects.

She said the altercation was “not necessarily an attack on one male” and is being treated as a double homicide.

One victim was 28 years old, while the other was 44 years old, police said.

They knew each other but were not related, Patten said.

Police remained on scene Saturday morning canvassing the area for evidence and witnesses.
