VANCOUVER – Two men convicted of attacking a Good Samaritan during the Stanley Riot in Vancouver will spend seven and eight months each behind bars.
Robert Timleck and Nathan Blake were among a group of 15 who swarmed a man in the city’s downtown core on the night of June 15, 2011.

Robert Mackay was punched, kicked and pepper sprayed as he tried to stop looting at The Bay department store after the Vancouver Canucks lost Game 7 of the Stanley Cup final to the Boston Bruins.
The suspects were identified from hundreds of videos and pictures offered to police by outraged bystanders who saw store windows being smashed and cars being set ablaze.

The Crown has so far approved criminal charges against 213 people, and 140 of them have entered guilty pleas.
An independent review of the riot blamed thugs fuelled by alcohol and said there wasn’t much police or the city could have done to prevent it.
