The Saskatchewan government will begin accepting potential infrastructure projects from municipalities and other eligible groups across the province on Friday.
The first step will be to submit expressions of interest for potential projects, giving the province a better understanding of what work needs to be done.
Projects will be accepted until April 30.
“Strategic infrastructure investments are key to improving our citizens’ quality of life and positioning our communities for growth,” said Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe.
“Infrastructure funding can also go further when groups work together, which is why I challenge community leaders to work together and consider submitting projects that can serve a region and its people.”
The second step will start in late 2019 and will require municipalities and other eligible groups to complete a more detailed application.
Other eligible groups include First Nations and Métis communities and organizations, public sector bodies, not-for-profit organizations and for-profit organizations working with Indigenous entities and/or municipalities.
Through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program, the province has secured $896 million in federal funding over 10 years.
Potential investments include upgrades to public transit, green infrastructure, community, culture and recreation along rural and northern communities.
