Solange Knowles, best known as Solange, released her latest album, When I Get Home, on Friday.

The long-awaited follow-up to 2016’s A Seat at the Table — her breakthrough record — features a variety of contributions from the likes of Gucci Mane, Pharrell, Earl Sweatshirt and Tyler, the Creator, among many others.

Knowles, 32, revealed that she was working on the record back in 2018.

In a New York Times interview, she stated: “There is a lot of jazz at the core, but with electronic and hip-hop drum and bass because I want it to bang and make your trunk rattle.”

Her words apparently held up. Longtime fans of the singer were taken aback by the sonic elements of the infectious, beat-filled record.

After months of inactivity on social media, the Cranes in the Sky singer revealed that she had created a Black Planet page.

For those who may not know, Black Planet is a social media platform for black men and women to discuss social and political issues.

Her account featured a number of quotes, sultry pictures, short video clips and choreographed dances. Fans took this as a hint towards new music from the singer.

Some of the fanatics who thoroughly scanned the website were surprised to find a number of hidden easter eggs, including the well-known — and likely retired — phone number of American rapper Mike Jones.

The phone number, 281-330-8004, was first revealed in Jones’ 2005 rap hit Back Then.

Those who called the number were met with a snippet of music from When I Get Home.
