It’s been nearly nine years since Canadian post-hardcore icons Alexisonfire released original music.
Fans may be pleased to hear the day has finally come. The five piece has just dropped a brand new single entitled Familiar Drugs.
The band began to tease fans with a short clip and a series of images throughout February and speculation pointed to either new music or an Alexisonfire tour.
Fans who were able to decode the suggestive images posted on Feb. 12 were left with the numbers 2, 15 and 19. The numbers translated to the single’s release date — Feb. 15, 2019.
Along with Familiar Drugs, the band revealed plans for four shows this year throughout England, the United States and one exclusive Canadian show.

“Stoked to share all the news today,” wrote the band on its social media accounts.
The George Pettit-fronted band split up back in Aug. 2011, following the release of their last EP, Dog’s Blood (2010). The breakup was triggered by guitarist Dallas Green‘s decision to focus on his solo project, City & Colour.
Since then, Alexisonfire has reunited sporadically to play a series of shows at festivals across the world.
Fortunately for fans, in a recent interview with Alan Cross, Pettit and Green revealed the band has plans to launch another world tour in 2019.
So far, only a handful of dates have been revealed, including the single gig in Toronto this June.
