Below is a full list of the candidates in the riding of Calgary-South East, an area covering the furthest southeast part of the city.

Alberta Party member Rick Fraser is up for re-election in this riding, representing a different party this time around. He is a former member of the Progressive Conservatives.

The UCP’s original candidate in this riding, Eva Kiryakos, stepped down on Sunday, March 25. She posted a video on Facebook that said she was stepping down and claimed someone outside her party had been threatening to “smear” her and release things she has said and commented on in the past.

On March 28, the UCP announced Matt Jones as the new candidate for the constituency.

Independent: Richard Fontaine

History

Fraser kept his seat in both the 2012 and 2015 elections as a Progressive Conservative. After the PC and Wildrose merger, Fraser was a member of the United Conservative Party until September 2017. He decided to sit as an Independent and then run for the leader position of the Alberta Party.

Parts of Airdrie-Chestermere, Calgary-Hays and Calgary-Shaw combined to form this riding in 2012.
