A partial snow-clearing operation started bright and early Friday morning in some areas of Montreal.
The city said only certain streets where snow has accumulated will be cleared after a recent blast of winter weather.

Snow removal will take place in the following nine boroughs: Ahuntsic-Cartierville, Anjou, Lachine, Mercier—Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, Montreal North, Pierrefonds-Roxboro, Rivière-des-Prairies—Pointe-aux-Trembles, Saint-Laurent and Saint-Léonard.
However, each borough can choose to begin snow-clearing operations, according to Sabourin.
“It’s an individualized decision from each borough so the situation can vary from one to another,” he said. “But everyone had the possibility to launch a snow removal operation.”
The operation began at 7 a.m. and the city said a team of workers will spray salt on ice-coated sidewalks and streets.

Residents are being asked to respect no-parking signs.
“The city is counting on the cooperation of everyone to facilitate operations,” the city said.
