Homicide team called to Surrey following shooting

WATCH: Homicide investigators are looking for answers after a fatal shooting in Surrey on Monday – Nov 27, 2018

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is investigating a fatal shooting in Surrey.

Surrey RCMP were called to the 14600-block of Southview Drive Monday morning.

When they arrived at 11:46 a.m., police said they found an adult victim suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite attempts to revive the person, the victim succumbed to their injuries.

Police are not giving any further details about the victim at this time.

People in the area at the time of the shooting say they saw two cars take off from the scene right after shots were fired.

One witness heard the shots and ran to see if he could help.

“I just heard nine gunshots [ring] out in rapid succession. I went to see if I could help the guy or render aid and I ducked behind the car, just in case, that’s it,” witness Wayne Pike told Global News. “Then I saw two cars take off.”

On Nov. 9, a 22-year-old man was shot and killed in Surrey at 142 Street and 70A Avenue just before 1:30 a.m.

On Nov. 12, Surrey RCMP were called to the 8000-block of 153A Street and found evidence suggesting that shots had been fired in the area.

Initial information suggests the shooting occurred between two vehicles that fled the area.
