Updated: Man shot and killed at South Keys Shopping Centre

Ottawa police say a man was shot and killed at South Keys Shopping Centre on Friday evening.

The police service early on Saturday identified the victim as Yonis Barkhadle, a 27-year-old man from Ottawa.

Major crime detectives are investigating Barkhadle’s death as a homicide and no arrests have been made, the Ottawa Police Service said.

Officers and paramedics were called to the Bank Street shopping plaza at around 6:30 p.m. on Friday.

The next day, police said officers found Barkhadle in the parking lot outside with “multiple gunshot wounds.”

“He was transported to hospital and later died of his injuries,” a police news release said.

Investigators urge anyone with information about this incident to call 613-236-1222, ext. 5493.
