On Monday, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) identified her as Nicole Hasselmann, who was also known as Nicole Porciello.
The Burnaby RCMP and IHIT are now both working working the case.
Two police officers canvassed neighbours in Porciello’s Burnaby neighbourhood today but it’s unclear what they were looking for.
The Burnaby RCMP said it believes Porciello and the man in the vehicle knew each other, and that there is no risk to public safety.
The condition of the male victim is not known, but police say he is in hospital.
