As one officer approached the home, a large dog left a shelter and bit the officer’s arm.

Police said the officer did not use any force on the dog as it was at the end of its leash and unable to attack him further.

He was taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Animal control was called in to speak with the dog’s owners.
