The “Maid in the Shade” B-25J Mitchell Bomber was scheduled to be on display this week as part of the Air Legends Show, which got underway Monday at the airport.

But organizers with the Loomex Group say a minor mechanical issue has meant the plane couldn’t arrive from Barrie, Ont., and is delayed until a new part arrives from Arizona. Loomex operates the airport through an agreement with the city.

“At this point we are not 100 per cent sure when it will arrive,” said Lorne Kelsey,  Loomex director of business development.

Kelsey says the bomber was scheduled for ground tours on Monday and Tuesday. However, he anticipates the planned short flights for visitors will proceed. The aircraft is from the Flying Legends of Victory Tour.

“All the flights scheduled later in the week will take place,” he said.

The Air Legends Show was part of a fundraiser for the Brock Mission men’s homeless shelter rebuild.
