Seven cars carrying liquid asphalt derailed early Tuesday evening near Rockhaven, Sask.

Cut Knife RCMP said a Canadian Pacific Railway train was travelling southeast just after 6 p.m. when the seven cars left the track.

Police said the freight cars remained upright and no asphalt was spilled.

Hazmats units were called in but, officials said there is no hazard to the local community.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the derailment remains under investigation.

Rockhaven is roughly 190 kilometres west of Saskatoon.
