An exceedingly windy afternoon is causing traffic headaches, property damage, power outages, and more in London and much of southern Ontario.

A wind warning was issued around 10:45 a.m. Friday for London, Parkhill, Strathroy, Komoka and Middlesex County ahead of a particularly blustery system that hit the region Friday afternoon and evening.
The wind warning ended for London and Middlesex just after 7 p.m.
Environment Canada had said a deepening low-pressure system could bring in some shower and thunderstorm activity; a thunderstorm watch and warning were both briefly issued for London-Middlesex but were lifted by mid-afternoon.

Gusts of 99km/h were reported out of the London International Airport during the 4 o’clock hour on Friday afternoon.
Throughout the afternoon, 980 CFPL received numerous reports of downed trees and power lines, some blocking roadways, and a significant amount of power outages.
A London Hydro spokesperson was unable to say when power would be restored as of 5 p.m. Friday.
