Chris Spearman has been re-elected mayor of Lethbridge.
With 16 out of 17 voting locations reporting, Spearman led with 14,897 votes, good for 73.72 per cent of all votes cast.
Martin Heavy Head had 3,342 votes for 16.54 per cent, with Robert Janzen in third with 1,969 votes and 9.74 per cent.
In addition to his 38 years of business experience, Spearman spent 18 years as a trustee with the Holy Spirit Catholic School Board, including two terms as board chair. He is also a founding member of the Industrial Association of Southern Alberta.
During his first term as mayor, Spearman was a strong proponent of environmental initiatives like curbside recycling. He’s also worked to grow the city’s economic profile on both the national and international stage.
