Manitoba firefighters deployed to battle B.C. wildfires

WINNIPEG – More than a dozen firefighters from Manitoba are headed to British Columbia to join the wildfire battle.

The province confirmed Tuesday it will be sending a team of 13 trained firefighters through the province’s wildfire program, along with 50 pumps.

One air attack officer is also being sent to Northwest Territories to help with co-ordination of firefighting efforts in that region.

The team is expected to leave Manitoba later this week.
