Edmonton Oilers release 2017-2018 schedule

The full schedule for the next season of Edmonton Oilers hockey has been released and the players are going to have to wait a bit to see the NHL’s newest team.

The Oilers will get their first look at the new Las Vegas Golden Knights when the team comes to Rogers Place Nov. 14. The Oilers will make their first trip to Vegas on Jan. 13, 2018.

As previously announced, fans won’t have to wait long for the first Battle of Alberta. The Oilers host the Calgary Flames in the home opener Oct. 4.

Another game of note, the Connor McDavid, Auston Matthews rivalry will be showcased again in November. The Toronto Maple Leafs come to Edmonton Nov. 30.

The Oilers will face the current Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins early in the season. Sidney Crosby’s team will host the Oilers Oct. 24.

On Thursday morning, the Oilers announced they had acquired forward Ryan Strome from the New York Islanders for right-winger Jordan Eberle. Eberle will face his old team for the first time on Nov. 7 in New York. He won’t make his return to Rogers Place until March 8, 2018.

The preseason gets started Sept. 18 with split-squad games between the Flames and the Oilers in Edmonton and Calgary.
