A Moncton couple has found a creative way to pedal their holiday spirit.

Steve Crawford and Karen Colwell have decked out their fat bikes in rows of bright Christmas lights and are driving around the city hoping to spread some holiday cheer.

“The little elf on the shelf said we should do something funny, something festive,” said Crawford referring to his partner Colwell as his “creative Christmas elf.”

The pair decided to buy the fat bikes this winter as a means of “staying in shape” said Crawford, who is a firefighter for the City of Moncton.

Colwell decided to take their riding experience one step further and sent Crawford to the hardware store to buy a bundle of lights.

“Some people look away cause they probably think we are a little crazy out there,” said Colwell, who said they wear colourful lights on their hats in addition to five strands of lights on each of their bikes.

The pair look like characters from a Dr. Seuss Christmas story driving along as they play holiday tunes from a speaker attached one of the bikes.
