Winnipeg Jets injury list grows as team calls up Chase De Leo from Manitoba Moose

WINNIPEG — Add one more player to the Jets lengthy injured list.

Forward Kyle Connor was placed on injured reserve with an upper-body injury by the Winnipeg Jets on Monday.

Connor, 19, was injured in the first period after he had his head slammed into the boards by Los Angeles Kings forward Kyle Clifford. Connor went to the dressing room and missed the rest of the first period. Clifford was assessed a five minute major penalty for boarding on the play. Connor returned to start the second period and played five shifts in the middle frame. He had just three shifts in the third period and didn’t play in the overtime.

In his rookie season with the Jets, Connor has scored one goal and three assists in 16 games.

To replace Connor the Jets recalled forward Chase De Leo from the Manitoba Moose.

DeLeo, 21, has three goals and four assists in 12 games in the AHL this season. He appeared in two games with the Jets last season but didn’t register a point.

The Jets now have five players on their 23-man roster who started the season with the Moose. In addition to De Leo, the Jets also have Andrew Copp, Marko Dano, Quinton Howden and Nic Petan still up in the NHL.

The Jets are now missing two full forward lines from their opening night lineup with Connor, Bryan Little, Drew Stafford, Shawn Matthias, Joel Armia and Mathieu Perreault all injured. The Jets are also without a pair of injured defenceman with Mark Stuart and Tyler Myers on the mend.
