Yellowhead Highway reopens to single lane of traffic west of Jasper following rock slide

A rock slide closed down a portion of the Yellowhead Highway Saturday morning.

The Yellowhead Highway west of the Town of Jasper was shut down Saturday morning following a rock slide.

“The slide has blocked the Yellowhead Highway in both directions.  Highway maintenance and emergency personnel are on scene,” Steve Young, a Parks Canada official, said Saturday.

A provincial notification was sent out at 9:50 a.m. via Twitter.
