Hollywood nepotism — the obvious favouritism of celebrity kids — isn’t anything new, but it looks like the modern roster of celebrity offspring is dominating magazine covers, television and movie screens.
In the past, when children of actors, singers and directors somehow achieved their own “fame,” it was a manageable list. But over the years, the index grew longer and now it’s almost endless. Famous names like Beckham, Smith and Baldwin are taking over Tinsletown, one Instagram follower at a time.
Their appeal may be trivial to older generations, and whether or not they’re here to stay is yet to be determined. But they’re here now and taking over our social media feeds and screens, most of them not yet old enough to legally get into a club (or vote! Or drive!).
Here’s a look at some of the most notable – and less-known – kids of Hollywood royalty that are making a splash and redefining the Hollywood game.
Name: Kaia Gerber
Age: 14
Celebrity parent(s): Cindy Crawford
Where you can find her: For a while, the mini Cindy Crawford lookalike appeared alongside her mother in editorials, like on the cover of Vogue Paris’ April 2016 issue. But recently she’s been breaking out on her own, appearing in Miu Miu and Alexander Wang ads and magazine editorials in Teen Vogue and Vogue Italia. The rising star has finally scored her first solo magazine cover on the September issue of Pop magazine.
