Police said it appeared the man was running to catch a southbound CTrain, and didn’t realize it had already begun departing from the station.

“Witnesses informed us the emergency equipment on the track, the bells and flashing lights, were working,” Sgt. Joerg Gottschling said. “The gentleman – who appeared to be under the influence of some alcohol – walked across the street.”

“He had some friends who were with him who advised us that their intent was to get on the train,” Gottschling added. “He realized the train was at the station, and tried to hustle across the road to get on that train and head downtown.”
