CALGARY- A new community library can be found inside the Westbrook CTrain Station starting Saturday morning. The Calgary Public Library has relocated the aging Shaganappi branch to the LRT station.
For the grand opening included a ribbon cutting with Councillor Evan Wooley leading a community walk from the Shaganappi Library to the new facility.
The library is named the Nicholls Family Library, after the local family that made a million dollar gift to the Calgary Public Library.

In a video message during the opening ceremony, Mayor Naheed Nenshi thanked the family for what he called an extraordinary gift.
“Our public library, the Calgary Public Library, is on track to be the best public library in the world.”
The new location will feature a ‘We Recommend’ collection, intended for people on the run.
There will be a computer bar and free meeting rooms available to the public, with a cafe on the main floor. Chromebooks will also be available for a daily check-out.
“The Nicholls Family Library is an incredible, living example of Calgary Public Library’s efforts to make the library relevant for the citizens of this great city and to bring the library into the community,” Bill Ptacek, Library CEO said.
