UPDATE: Calgary man charged in attack on 83-year-old found in downtown alley
Calgary police are investigating after an 83-year-old-man was found seriously injured in a downtown alley on Friday.
The victim was discovered suffering from multiple traumatic injuries in the 100 block of 2 Avenue S.E., just south of the Centre Street Bridge, at around 8:30 a.m.
EMS said it appeared he was assaulted.
Paramedics rushed the man to hospital in serious but stable condition.
Witnesses told investigators they heard a man yelling and then saw a slim man wearing white pants and a black hoodie run from the alley with a dark backpack.
On Friday, police released photos captured from CCTV surveillance footage which show a man matching witness descriptions leaving the area.
