REGINA – A loud and vibrant parade marched through the Cathedral Village neighbourhood on its way to Les Sherman Park Monday to kick of the 25th annual Cathedral Village Arts Festival (CVAF).
The celebration includes a jam-packed week of music, literature, theatre, visual arts and dance.
“For the first time ever we got an artistic director to put this together for us and she’s managed to get thirty performers to come together to celebrate our history, our present and launch us into another 25 years,” Festival Chair Barbara Tomporowski said.
Organizers are encouraging festival-goers to participate in activities rather than just watch.

Workshops on abstract art, jewelry, and even 3D printing were held at the Neil Balkwill Civic Arts Centre.
“We want them to really appreciate the diversity of the arts, to take part and try something they might never have thought they could do before,” Tomporowski said.
The festival runs every day until May 28, when the Street Fair, Saskatchewan’s largest outdoor craft sale, showcases its wares.
Organizers expect as many as 45,000 people to attend the 25th year of the CVAF.
