There was a special Easter dinner on Saturday afternoon in Halifax.
A three course meal was served for hundreds of needy men, women and children at the Souls Harbour Rescue Mission on Cunard Street.
The Easter dinner is one of the annual holiday meals the mission puts on each year.
Souls Harbour is entering their fifth year of service for the needy in Halifax. Their goal is to help people from poverty, addiction and despair by offering emergency help like shelter, clothing and food.
“Souls Harbour is about offering welcome, hope and dignity and how much more so than with Easter can we do that, because Easter is a time of new beginnings and hope for all,” said Michelle Porter, Souls Harbour Rescue Mission.
On top of a pork loin dinner, every one of the guests were also treated to an Easter gift.
Porter says the mission strives to give a sense of hope for those who struggle with hunger and poverty.
This year, the mission was expecting to feed 350 people but nearly 400 people showed up for the meal.
