CALGARY – Police are warning the public about a high risk offender released into the Calgary area on Monday.
Jeremy John Emmelkamp, 37, recently finished serving a two-year and 10-month sentence for uttering threats and criminal harassment. His previous convictions include assault, assault causing bodily harm, possession of a controlled substance and possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Emmelkamp will now be monitored by the Calgary Police Service’s High Risk Offender Program.
He is described as approximately 130 pounds, 5’ 8” tall with blond hair and blue eyes.
Officers said in a Monday news release that they issued the warning “in the belief that it is clearly in the public interest to inform the members of the community of the release of Emmelkamp.”

Police warned the public to take “suitable precautionary measures,” but not to “embark on any form of vigilante action.”
Emmelkamp’s previous offences were committed in Calgary, Banff, Lethbridge and Nelson, B.C.
