Calgary police said a pedestrian was killed late Tuesday after being hit by a vehicle on Stoney Trail in the city’s northeast.
Investigators said the crash happened just before 11 p.m. in the southbound lanes, near McKnight Boulevard.
When officers arrived, they shut down the southbound lanes between McKnight and 16 Avenue northeast and advised motorists to avoid the area.
The man who was struck died from his injuries.
Investigators said the driver of the vehicle involved remained at the scene.
The road was closed to traffic for about six hours while the CPS collision reconstruction team investigated.
It was reopened to traffic around 6 a.m., just in time for the start of the Wednesday morning rush hour.
Pedestrians today never look both ways before crossing any street. Pedestrians assume it’s their right to step off the curb and not even look. Unfortunately most of the time its blamed on the drivers. Pedestrians have to learn safety measures also. Look before crossing.
Who walks on a busy highway at 11pm no less? A drunkard Hobo, that is!
