WATROUS, Sask. – Mounties are turning to the public for help in a cold case.
Police say James Carlson was last seen at a video store in Watrous, Sask. between 7 and 8 p.m. on May 14, 2008.
Earlier that day, he had been doing some work at an area farm. He had spoken with several people and had made arrangements to do work at another farm the following day.
Five days later, his truck was located in a field near Allan.
Extensive searches in the area failed to turn up Carlson.
His home in Watrous was then examined by the forensic identification section and evidence gathered supported the belief Carlson had been murdered.
Two years later, his white Monte Carlo was found concealed on a secluded rural property near Rosthern. The interior was covered in automotive fluid, making recovery of any evidence impossible.
Investigators have followed up on numerous tips over the years on where Carlson’s body may be, including rural areas around Watrous, Imperial and Holdfast.
The historical case unit is now tailoring its investigation to farm land and are asking landowners to keep an eye out for any sign of Carlson or indications of anything suspicious.
