UPDATE: Latest extreme cold warnings for Saskatchewan

Environment Canada has continued an extreme cold warning for parts of northern Saskatchewan.

Temperatures near -30 C, combined with northerly winds of 10 to 15 km/h, will create extreme wind chill values of -40 or lower Thursday morning.

Exposed skin can freeze in five to 10 minutes at those values.

Wind chill values are expected to moderate later in the day.

Extreme wind chills are expected overnight over the northeastern grainbelt as a cold arctic ridge of high pressure builds in the region.

  • Uranium City – Camsell Portage
  • Wollaston Lake – Collins Bay

Extreme cold warning ended for:

  • Hudson Bay – Porcupine Plain
  • Meadow Lake – Big River – Green Lake – Pierceland
  • Melfort – Tisdale – Nipawin – Carrot River
  • Prince Albert – Shellbrook – Spiritwood – Duck Lake
