Winnipeg Goldeyes release 2017 schedule

WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Goldeyes will once again open the season on the road.

The Goldeyes announced their 2017 schedule on Tuesday and the club will begin defense of their American Association title against the expansion Cleburne Railroaders on May 18. The Railroaders have replaced the Joplin Blasters and will play just outside of Dallas, Texas as part of the South Division. The season opening 10-game road trip also includes a stop in Wichita for a rematch of last year’s American Association championship series.

The Goldeyes will play their home opener on May 29 against the Sioux Falls Canaries. In all, nine different teams will visit Shaw Park in the 2017 campaign. 45 of their 100 regular season games are against divisional opponents. The Fish will wrap up their regular season schedule on September 4 against the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks.

Start times for home games are unchanged from last season with almost all of their Monday to Friday games scheduled for a 7 p.m. start. The schedule also includes three matinee weekday games. On Saturdays first pitch is once again scheduled for 6 p.m. start times.

The Goldeyes will kick off spring training on Saturday, May 6. They will also play a pair of home exhibition games against the RedHawks on May 10 and 11.
