Sam Smith talks smashing records with ‘Writing’s On The Wall’

Sam Smith is breaking records again. The 23-year-old Brit has another smash on his hands with his hit from the Spectre soundtrack. Writing’s on the Wall is the first James Bond theme song to reach number one in the UK – and nobody is more surprised about that than the singer himself.

“It’s unbelievable. It genuinely hasn’t sunk in,” Smith said. “I was actually mainly surprised with the number one because of the type of song it was. In this day and age of music, classical songs like that don’t really get the time of day.”

The singer not only performs the track –  he co-wrote it too – and he says he is thrilled to be involved with the 007 franchise.

“The [Spectre] script inspired me to write this one – and the hunger to write a Bond song which I’ve had in me since I was a little boy,” he said.
