Drugs, firearms seized in raid on Saskatoon motel room

SASKATOON – Two people are facing numerous charges after a drug bust in Saskatoon. The bust happened Thursday evening at a motel room in the 2500-block of 22nd Street West.

Members of the integrated drug enforcement street team, along with tactical support, patrol and canine units, executed a search warrant around 9:15 p.m.

Police seized 300.6 grams of meth, 30.3 grams of powder cocaine, 193.1 grams of crack cocaine, 8.7 grams of marijuana and 31 capsules of hydro morph.

A number of weapons were also seized including a revolver, a shotgun, a .22-calibre rifle, a 30-16 rifle and a machete.

Over $3,200 in cash, an air soft pistol, bear spray along with numerous cell phones, packing material and score sheets were also seized.

Police say a 35-year-old man suffered two self-inflicted gunshot wounds to his lower extremity several hours prior to his arrest. He was treated in hospital and released to police.

He, along with a 47-year-old woman, are each facing 37 charges including possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of weapons dangerous to the public and possession of the proceeds of crime.

The man was also wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for breach of statutory release.

Both are scheduled to appear in Saskatoon provincial court on Monday.
