TORONTO – Jeremy Meeks became an Internet sensation last month when he earned the title “the sexiest criminal in America” after his mug shot made the rounds on social media.

Since going viral, the photo has been “liked” on Facebook over 100,000 times and shared over 12,000 times, with many praising Meeks’ high cheek bones, chiselled face and striking blue eyes.

All the attention has landed the 30-year-old a Hollywood agent and a modelling contract that could see him earning upwards of $30,000 a month.

Meeks was arrested June 18 during a gang sweep in Stockton, California and is facing five weapons charges and one gang charge. He’s currently in prison awaiting trial.

A police spokesman called Meeks “one of the most violent criminals in the Stockton area.”

Talent agent Gina Rodriguez says gangster models are hot right now, which is why Meeks is in such high demand.

This could all be going to Meeks’ head — TMZ reported that after a request from Meeks to wear custom-fitted clothing in court (instead of the standard orange prison jumpsuit) was denied, he now wants all cameras banned from the courtroom to protect his image.

Meeks is due back in court July 8.
