EDMONTON – Alberta sheriffs were ordered to search for potential jurors at the law courts in downtown Edmonton Thursday.

A judge issued a summons for jury duty asking sheriffs to find 40 people.

The sheriffs canvassed the streets and, in the end, one or two people were added to the jury.

Alberta Justice says this is not a common practice.

It says it is connected to a lengthy fraud trial that is already underway.
