The crash happened when ice on the Red Willow River under the man's snowmobile collapsed, causing him to be thrown off of the machine, police said.

Saskatchewan RCMP said one man was killed and a second has life-threatening injuries after two separate snowmobile crashes.

On Friday night, OPP responded to reports a snowmobile and driver went through the York River in the Town of Bancroft.

In the past week, RCMP have responded to three serious collisions in the province, two of them involving fatalities. 

One man is dead and a woman is recovering after a snowmobile crash near The Pas, Man., Saturday morning.

Police say the rider, who was wearing a helmet, failed to negotiate a turn on the trail and collided with a tree.

Police say the boy was driving the motorized snow vehicle when he left the trail and struck a tree.

OPP said officers were called to the scene of a single snowmobile collision on the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs Trail E, near Elphin-Maberley Road at around 3:40 p.m. 

The OPP says its members searched the area near Munro Line in Southwold and found the missing snowmobile and a deceased person shortly after 7:30 a.m. Monday.
