6 people arrested in Waterloo Monday morning after a spree of robberies across the region

Waterloo Regional Police say six people were arrested Monday after a 24-hour spree of robberies and attempted robberies across the region.

The initial call came in at 8:45 a.m. on Monday as a robbery was reported at a bank near Erb Street and Culpepper Drive.

Police say three men approached an employee, assaulted the woman and threatened her when she would not open the door to let them inside

The hold-up crew then fled the scene in a stolen vehicle and within an hour, another robbery was reported, this time it was at a pharmacy on Stanley Street in Ayr.

Police say that three men entered into the pharmacy, where they flashed guns before making off with cash. The trio were last spotted heading north on Northumberland Drive in the stolen vehicle.

They say the officers caught up with the vehicle in south Kitchener where an attempted robbery was averted by officers.

The officers then identified other vehicles that had been involved in the robberies and at shortly after 11 a.m., police arrested six people and seized a replica gun near King and Columbia streets in Waterloo.

Police say they have connected the gang with a pharmacy robbery, near Belmont Avenue West and Claremont Avenue, that had occurred on Sunday night.

The six people who were arrested, including three men and three teens who hail from Waterloo and

Toronto, faces charges including robbery with a firearm, attempted robbery with a firearm, and possession of stolen property over $5,000.
