According to police, the crash involving a Buick LeSabre sedan and an Infiniti G35 occurred just before noon at the intersection of Memorial Drive and Madigan Drive/Penbrooke Drive — between the communities of Marlborough Park and Penbrooke Meadows.

A preliminary traffic unit investigation indicated the sedan had been making a left-hand turn from eastbound Memorial Drive onto northbound Madigan Drive when it collided with an oncoming G35.

EMS officials confirm both drivers — a man in his 70s in the LeSabre and a man in his 20s in the G35 — were severely injured and taken by ambulance to the Foothills Medical Centre in potentially life-threatening condition. Investigators say the senior was found on the ground post-crash and it’s believed he had been thrown from the vehicle.

A woman in her 60s, who was a passenger in the sedan, was taken to hospital in stable condition.

The intersection was closed to traffic following the collision. Police expected to reopen the roads late Monday afternoon.
