A crash involving two vehicles and a train claimed the life of a woman in Maple Ridge Thursday night. .
Emergency crews were called to the collision involving a train, semi truck and SUV just before 6 p.m.
The collision happened at an area of tracks near 272 Street and Lougheed Highway.
The truck was hit by the train and the impact caused its trailer to swing around, pinning the SUV underneath.
Firefighters used the Jaws of Life to free the trapped driver of the SUV but her injuries were so severe that she died at the scene, police said.
Officials have not identified her, nor provided any other information on what may have led to the incident.
A freight train was also stopped just down track.
DriveBC said Lougheed Highway was closed in both directions between 266 Street and 280 Street while crews responded.
