Pedestrian in serious condition after being hit in southeast Calgary

Calgary police are searching for the driver of a vehicle that hit a pedestrian on 11 Avenue S.E. and 27 Street on Tuesday morning.

According to a press release published Tuesday afternoon, a man was struck by a truck while crossing the intersection on a marked crosswalk sometime between 5:50 a.m. and 6:20 a.m. CCTV footage showed a second vehicle striking the unconscious pedestrian laying on the road and failing to stop.

The truck driver remained at the scene and attempted to help the pedestrian and is cooperating with the police. The pedestrian was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

The driver of the second vehicle was driving an orange, crossover-style SUV, according to police.
