OPP say the plane went down east of the Brantford Municipal Airport in an open field late Monday afternoon and sent one person to hospital.

That pilot, 57-year-old John Bacon from Hamilton, has since been pronounced dead, according to Const. Conrad Vitalis in a social media post.

“Firefighters extricated the lone occupant and paramedics transported them to an area hospital where they were pronounced deceased by attending physicians,” Vitalis said in his post.
