Peter Demong

Ward 14 Coun. Peter Demong is the incumbent in this year’s race. Originally elected in 2011, he has served three terms on council and is seeking a fourth.

This latest term saw Demong sit on the city’s planning and urban development, utilities and corporate services, and intergovernmental affairs committees. He was also one of two city council representatives at the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association.

In March, the province moved forward towards extended producer responsibility (EPR), a file Demong has been doing advocacy work on for years. EPR could see the cost of recycling plastics put on plastics manufacturers instead of municipal/provincial governments.

Demong promises progress on zero-based policy review and EPR.
