Police were called to the area of West 57th Avenue and Southwest Marine Drive around 6:30 a.m. “for reports of three men in the street, one of them carrying a knife,” spokesperson Const. Tania Visintin said.

A man in his early 20s was found in the area with stab wounds, she said. He was taken to hospital where he later died.

The incident drew a large police presence, including the VPD’s Emergency Response Team, and witnesses posted to social media reporting they heard several loud bangs.

Video from the scene showed officers ordering a man from a home late Saturday morning and placing him in handcuffs.

However, Visintin said police had made no arrests and that the investigation was ongoing.
